Every successful journey comes to an end, what an extra ordinary journey MSD has been through that even Prime Minister of the country sent his good wishes to him. With his retirement decision MSD seems to have added double the value to his personality and aura. Truly written by PM that MSD was not just Captian cool who brought this country few trophies rather MSD was a phenomenon that changed the way New India thinks.
No big family name, no upbringing in metro city, not very cozy home, no expensive boarding school, no extra ordinary coaching of the game he played but yet MSD made such a big difference that whole world today salutes Lt. Col MS Dhoni with great respect and pride. At 39 yrs lot of people are still settling down in career otherwise planning how to manage life….but this committed man actually made his fortune from Zero to few thousand crores and is now ready to get set with his third inning in life.
What magic makes him The MS Dhoni apart from being captain cool. I am sure when history will be rewritten, him being cool would be one of the aspects in line with another more than 100 other things that make him real MSD. His character will be more defined and understood as a non cricketer rather than being just a Captain who made Indian Cricket Team win many titles. Here goes the decoding list to understand MSD in crystal clarity.
Family Man – Since childhood, he has been very attached to his parents, sisters. Though his family has always kept away from the glitter but he made sure all these years that every celebration of his gets completed at his family home. Lesson No 1…..however high you go, you must be available to the people who brought you up and your real world just gets completed with your family.
Close Friends – Real friends can be counted on your first two fingers, anything beyond that is just a number in your phone book. MSD was closely circled by just 3-4 friends. They sacrificed a lot to ensure that their friend reaches to the place which he so well deserves. MSD has been very loyal to them, there have been enormous stories to tell that his care for his friends at The MSD level remained the same. Though he might have met lakhs of people in India & Abroad in all these years but his care for that small circle of friends never changed. Lesson No 2…..these are your close 3-4 friends only who pray for your success, cheer for your glory and cry for your failure along with your family.
Be Loyal to your place of Birth – Its a fashion to move to metros once you start doing well in life (You certainly become a secondary citizen if you are not born & brought up in same place). There are people around your birth place who swear by you and spread positivity about you (mitti ki khushboo of your birth place can just be felt not explained). MSD could have settled down any where in the world but he choose Ranchi an unheard small place about 20 years back, with him being in Ranchi he brought entire world to his hometown. Lesson No 3…… you owe it to your birth place. Explore entire world but do remember your birth place has great expectations from you as well.
Have an additional source of Income – MSD left his railway job to pursue his passion for Cricket, his father was not very comfortable with his decision and wanted him to keep a job in hand. MSD made it a point to continue with his Lt. Col position with Indian Army, that gave him pride to serve the nation as well as have a parallel income as per his father’s desire. Lesson No 4, however higher you reach, make it a point that your parents have some expectations that make them feel comfortable. Small steps create big difference. Today MSD has a Hotel in Ranchi, A fitness company with franchise across many cities, a sports brand, hockey team and many more ventures to ensure that legacy created continues for generations to follow.
They say being human, being humble, being grounded are ingredients to your success but most of the people give up these things while on their way to reach stardom. MSD has proved to be an exceptional talent and a great human being whose role as a son, as a brother, as a friend, as a player, as a captain, as a husband, as a father, as an Indian is worth emulating. Salutes to Lt. Col MS Dhoni, he will be missed in his blue jersey with 7 on back. But, this man mastered the skills of surprising everyone with his moves.
