“Mother”- The Perfect Financial Manager “Mother’s Day Special”

2nd Sunday of every May month is Mother’s day, by the way do you know any single day that is not a mother’s day? Across all corners of globe, Mothers remain very special, may be mother was first creation of god when the origin of life on earth was planned. First creation is always the perfect one and so are all mothers, full of love, affection, care, blessings, talent, sixth sense, concern and what not. My gratitude & pranaam to all mothers who are blessing their families while present in this world physically or from up there in the heavens…..Happy Mother’s Day!!!!

When it comes to perfect home keeper, world’s best cook with finger licking taste, the one who understood you in and out, one whose shoulder always remained for you to cry in every thick n thin, one who is binding force for the family, one who always said you are the best, one who took the pain to carry you in her womb for 9 months…..the one word that describes it all is MOTHER. “God said, I can not be present every where hence I created MOTHER” is true to every word…..on this Mother’s day remember those 10 things that made your mother special…..trust me once you know the results, you will be surprised that all mothers had the same specialities. Its difficult to judge whose was the best, its this fact that all mother’s are crowned as next to God.

If you are in your late forties may be you can recall it better, who used to handle financial portfolio in your family. Though mother was rarely earning in those times and level of education was also very limited but they managed financial portfolio with such a perfection that for every emergency fund you looked at her and she never disappointed. Sometime that one rupees coin tied on one corner of her Duppatta for your immediate candies or Rs. 20 red note from that sugar pot for buying that football or 3 notes of Rs. 50 from rice container for your shoes. Mother remained such a perfect financial manager that anyone in family having cash crises would look up to her with great hopes and result was never disappointing.

Few Financial Lessons that mother taught us and remain very relevant today as well are

1. Value of Money– Even if you don’t earn, you must know the value of money. Mothers never had any regular earning, no bank account or big money coming there way, their value system was such extra ordinary that even 25 paisa coin was given importance. At the time of need even this small coin brought smile on someone’s face.

2. Helping in Emergency earned respect as well as worked as reward system – If mother was savior for all during small financial needs, respect came to her automatically. She had the magical art of letting you do homework first and then get your coin for candies. That brought her power of being the binding force in family.

3. Diversification of Funds – No business school can teach the way mothers managed diversification. Different funds for different needs, if Rs. 1 coin was tied in Dupatta for immediate need, Rs 5/10/20 rupees notes were found in Sugar or Rice container, Rs. 50 notes were kept below that big transistor or may be in that religious book in Pooja area and Rs. 100 notes were kept below the last layer of clothes in Sandook (Box). This meant not all the funds were exposed in one go.

While fathers remained busy working away from home, mother’s took charge to create value system in the family. They not just preached but practiced each aspect be it Punctuality, Discipline, Time Management, Money Management, Respect for Elders, Health, Hygiene, Religious rituals, Bonding in society, giving exposure to outside game with a condition of returning back in time etc etc. This value system needs to be brought back and mothers of modern times need to re look all aspects of managing families with same or may be improved perfection that matches current trends while meeting children expectations without any conflict.

At this time while Covid 19 second wave is at its peak and everyone is locked inside, its good time to cook for your mother or may be mother of your children to make it a very special mother’s day. Prayers for happiness and healthy life to every mother on this earth. Happy Mother’s Day!!!
